The first thing to remember when you suspect lost or damaged data is to immediately stop using the drive or computer that needs to be recovered! If you are reading this web page from the computer containing the damaged drive, write down this web site ( and phone number 713-896-1777 and visit our web site from a different computer, or call us 24/7 for a free consultation.

It is important to understand that anything that you do on the drive, or anything you do to the drive will likely lessen the chances for successful data recovery. It is also important to understand that you need to bring your hard drive to a company that specializes in data recovery, and not just any computer repair shop. Be sure they have the proper tools and equipment, like write blockers, imaging devices and a clean room.

In addition to having the Certified Data Recovery Professional certification, we have licensed and certified computer forensic examiners to look after your data. You can be confident that your data is handled carefully and professionally throughout the entire process.

We also offer a guarantee: If we are not able to recover your data, you do not pay us any money.

Typical data recovery cost is just $500 per drive. And if we don't get your data back, you pay nothing, so you've got nothing to lose. Click here for a more detailed pricing guide.

Instructions / Process:

  1. Print, fill out and sign our Data Recovery Agreement form
  2. Deliver or ship your drive to us
  3. We will contact you when the drive is received, and confirm the details
  4. We will begin testing the drive and perform a thorough analysis of the drive and contents
  5. We will contact you at the conclusion of the testing (typically 5 business days) to let you know which files we are able to recover, and confirm pricing with you
  6. We will ship your recovered data back to you

Data Recovery Shipping Instructions

Mail your drive, computer or device to our office in Houston, Texas. If you are in the greater Houston area, you are welcome to, and encouraged to hand deliver the drive (or computer or device) to our office.

If packing the drive for shipment:

  • We recommend that you seal the drive in an anti-static bag (if available)
  • Pack the drive carefully inside bubble wrap so there is at least 3 inches or 8 cm of padding on all sides of the drive
  • Tape the bubble wrap so that it is held firmly in place around the drive
  • If you are sending us an external drive, please be sure to include the power supply for the external drive
  • Place the bubble-wrapped drive in a sturdy shipping box so that it is held securely in place and does not bounce around in the box, using extra packing material if necessary
  • Be sure to include your Data Recovery Agreement Form inside the box before you seal the box
  • Once all necessary equipment and paperwork are in the box, seal the box with sturdy packing tape on all flaps
  • Mail the box to:
    Houston Computing Services
    9000 Emmott Rd
    Suite C
    Houston, TX 77040
    Phone: 713-896-1777
  • Be sure your name and return address are clearly marked on the outside of the box
  • If you are going to hand deliver the drive, click here for directions

Pricing for a typical data recovery:

  • Most data recovery is $500 per drive, plus parts (if necessary)
  • Less than 50% of recoveries require parts, and even when parts are required, they are typically less than $100
  • If you are requesting more than 4GB of data recovered, an additional hard drive will be required to store the recovered data to return to you. If you supply the additional drive, there is no extra charge; or you can purchase the additional (internal or external) hard drive from us at the current market rate. Less than 4GB of data can be recovered to DVD media (no extra charge) or an additional (internal or external) drive provided by you or purchased from us.
  • We can often recover data where other data recovery companies could not. However, if there has been a previous data recovery attempted, there is an additional $200 charge. This is because any previous data recovery attempts usually makes the data recovery much more difficult. The "previous recovery attempt" charge applies if you attempted the recovery yourself, or if it was the local computer shop, or if it was the computer geek from down the street, or if it was another data recovery facility. Because of this, please understand that if your data is important to you, then it is important to get it to a skilled, experienced data recovery professional as soon as possible.
  • If you are in a hurry to get your data back, you have the option of paying a "Rush Fee". This fee is an additional $500, and will move your recovery to the top of the list. With the rush service your drive will be worked on within 2 hours (or less) of the time it is received in our office, and additionally, our technicians will work after hours and weekends to complete your recovery as soon as possible.
  • If this drive is for a case that will go to court, or needs Computer Forensics be sure to let us know up front. There is an additional charge for this because the case must be handled using a different procedure, and additional forms are required.
  • And remember: If we can't get your data back, you owe us nothing. We are so confident in our ability to recover your data, that we will ship your drive back to you at our own expense, even if you have not paid us any money
